EEE Job Interview Question Answer [ Part 5 ]

1.Question 1

Tell some kinds of motors which may be a single phase AC motor?

-Shaded pole motor, Split phase motor, Capacitor start and run motor

2.Question 2

What is the spatial relationship between the rotor and therefore the stator of the split phase motor?

The rotor rotates inside the rotor windings

3.Question 3

Why are the wires of the starting windings within the split phase motor of a smaller gauge than those of the stator windings?

Some reasons are some-

  • ·         The smaller gauge of starting windings given them different resistance, inductance and magnetic flux than the wires of the stator windings
  • ·         differential torque during starting which accelerates the motor to operating speed
  • ·         the difference in magnetic flux because of the smaller wire gage  partially cancel the magnetic flux of 1 or more of the rotating stator fields and adds to the others

4.Question 4

What is the aim of the shading coil within the shaded pole motor?

The shading coil acts in parallel to the provision coil reducing the effective resistanse, increasing the motor current and torque.

5.Question 5

In our demo video on demolishing a disciple, where is that the iron core of the stator of the universal motor relative to the armature?

It is located circumferentially, just outside of the aemature
